Where's my barista?

I blame fanfiction for my high expectation in finding love.
But I specially blame fanfiction on my high expectations in finding "the love of my life" working as a barista in a nice coffee shop.

Every single time a I go for a caffè on a coffee shop (and here I'm talking about a coffee shops that serves you more than your overall espresso, caffè with milk -yes, in Spain we have this, a latte is a different story- and "cortados") I expect to find that gorgeous man that smiles to me and decides to prepare me a different brewing different to what I asked for because "I'm gonna like it", or something like that. And yes, of course, I would come back for more coffees and we'd fall madly in love and have puppies, babies and roses.

And that's why I hate fanfiction sometimes.



First, we don't have that many "nice coffee shops" here in Spain (even in Barcelona!), we are more plain-cafeteria-kind. We have Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and a few coffee shops that really know how to make a capuccino, a latte, or a real cafe mocha. Then we don't have "baristas" persé, we have a bunch of kids working part time while they are studying. And obviously they don't have imaginative people that makes you from the scratch a new mixed caffè just for you.

So yeah, I blame fanfiction. And now I might or might no be planing on going on a coffee shop hunting. I'm not probably going to find the love of my life but I seriously hope to find a place where they prepare a mean "caffè mocha with soy milk and no cream, thank you very much", damnit!

Oh! And all this rambling comes from my late yesterday night reading, the every fandom needs a coffee shop AU fic. And so far in Star Trek AOS this is Common Grounds (Summary: Modern day AU. Leonard McCoy tries online dating. A story of coffee, printing, and the Internet.) And of cousse never forget about the beautiful-but-I-hate-that-this-never-happens-to-me Inception coffee shop AU: I've Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile (The Only Living Boy in New York) (Arthur's a corporate lawyer, Eames owns the coffee shop across the street, and all good love stories start with a quadruple shot latte.)

So, coffee anyone? ;)

This could have come right from my brain. ^^ I so agree! XD If you ever find that coffee shop, please let me know so I can meet your wonderful barista's long-lost-cousin or just-adorable-flatmate that always seems to be just waiting for the MC's friend to appear.

Don't worry love! Serás la primera a la que se lo comentaré y te haré venir de visita a tomarnos cafés maravillosos.

En su defecto, siempre podemos montar una nosotras. Aquí seremos nosotras las baristas maravillosas y sólo tendremos que esperar a que venga el cliente triste-pero-maravilloso al que alegrar el día con un café ;)

Yo me sé de una (y tú también) que estaba planeando montar un café librería... quien sabe si nuestro futuro pasará por allí! ^^ Porque, aunque los sueños, sueños son (como dices abajo) y de sueños no se vive, sin ellos la vida tampoco es gran cosa.

Yo decidí hace ya un tiempo que mi trabajo ideal seria montar una tienda de ropa y complementos//coffee-shop. En teoría coffee-shop para llevar y darle a las clientas, pero la caja sería una barra y habría una mesita en la entrada. Idealmente también, había un sitio al fondo para trabajar (diseñar, cortar, coser) y obviamente un probador.
Y tendría un nombre francés moñas y estaría todo pintado bonito en pasteles y madera, y hasta dibujaría caritas sonrientes en los vasos de cartón... sigh...

Bueno, nada es imposible y, de momento, el primer paso hacia ese camino ya lo has dado. Quien sabe lo que depara el futuro!
