duare: (bloqueo escritor)

The night you came into my life
well it took the bones of me, took the bones of me
You blew away my storm and strife
And shook the bones of me, shook the bones of me
By the way, I do know why you stayed away
I will keep tongue-tied next time

duare: (coffe latte heart)
I blame fanfiction for my high expectation in finding love.
But I specially blame fanfiction on my high expectations in finding "the love of my life" working as a barista in a nice coffee shop.

Every single time a I go for a caffè on a coffee shop (and here I'm talking about a coffee shops that serves you more than your overall espresso, caffè with milk -yes, in Spain we have this, a latte is a different story- and "cortados") I expect to find that gorgeous man that smiles to me and decides to prepare me a different brewing different to what I asked for because "I'm gonna like it", or something like that. And yes, of course, I would come back for more coffees and we'd fall madly in love and have puppies, babies and roses.

And that's why I hate fanfiction sometimes.

First, we don't have that many "nice coffee shops" here in Spain (even in Barcelona!), we are more plain-cafeteria-kind. We have Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and a few coffee shops that really know how to make a capuccino, a latte, or a real cafe mocha. Then we don't have "baristas" persé, we have a bunch of kids working part time while they are studying. And obviously they don't have imaginative people that makes you from the scratch a new mixed caffè just for you.

So yeah, I blame fanfiction. And now I might or might no be planing on going on a coffee shop hunting. I'm not probably going to find the love of my life but I seriously hope to find a place where they prepare a mean "caffè mocha with soy milk and no cream, thank you very much", damnit!

Oh! And all this rambling comes from my late yesterday night reading, the every fandom needs a coffee shop AU fic. And so far in Star Trek AOS this is Common Grounds (Summary: Modern day AU. Leonard McCoy tries online dating. A story of coffee, printing, and the Internet.) And of cousse never forget about the beautiful-but-I-hate-that-this-never-happens-to-me Inception coffee shop AU: I've Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile (The Only Living Boy in New York) (Arthur's a corporate lawyer, Eames owns the coffee shop across the street, and all good love stories start with a quadruple shot latte.)

So, coffee anyone? ;)

duare: (ST: K/M face)
Like becoming bi-shipper on a fandom you though you were one-ship-kind-of-girl.
In [livejournal.com profile] aviss favor, I had to say that the fic of awesomeness is like the best thing ever. Ok, it may be one of the two best things ever!
Observations (by [livejournal.com profile] anon_j_anon) Is the K/S perfect fic, and Switch (by [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera)is its perfect counterpart on the K/M side.

If I could I'd gladly do a ménage à trois with both fics. Just saying.

And here I am now, doing background research and planing time lines, plots and bunnies for that crazy friend of mine. But to who am I lying? I'm enjoying every bloody minute of it, goddammit!

Wonderful [livejournal.com profile] dreamlittleyo (who was one of my favourite Inception authors and the best Cob/Arthur writers) is also writing ST:XI fics.
I think it's a conspiracy!
Favourite authors, best fics ever (will talk about this another day), funny icons, hot guy... oh please kill me now!
duare: (OMG Kirk)
The day before to my trip to Vietnam and Cambodia I downloaded several different fandoms fics to my kindle. I had the intention to just download the longest fics from the two fandoms I was reading at the moment (X-Men: First Class and Inception), but just decided to download some Criminal Minds as well. And then something caught my attentions: Star Trek
AO3 has a large supply of Star Trek fics of all the series and universes.
So why not I asked myself. Just the largest or with more hits in case I read all the other fics.

There was one that it picked my curiosity (So Wise We Grow by Deastar) and for some reason, once I was at the airport waiting to my flight to Warsaw (where I was to meet with [livejournal.com profile] aviss and Mb), I decided to start reading it instead of all the other fics.

At this point I have to say that I was in no way a foreign to ST fandom and universe. I'd watched TOS and TNG as a kid in the Catalan TV, I later watched some episodes of Voyager on the local TV. And after the reboot movie (which I loved it) I got into the fandom for a little while, reading some K/S fics and some gen fics. But I let it go quite easily, as I belive I was, at the time immersed, in other fandoms.

The thing is, I finished So Wise We Grow in my second day in Vietnam and instead of going for another fandom I decided to go on reading all I had downloaded of Star Trek. And when I run out of ST fics, I went to AO3 and downloaded a few more, and at the return flights I decided to close the circle reading the fic that made me began my travel no just around the Great Mekong.

A here we are now... feeling like maybe I've found a new home, a fandom large and resilient enough as once upon a time it was for me the Harry Potter fandom. I bought The Original Series' DVD, I'm getting my hand in The Next Generation, and I'm reading. I'm reading like I have not read in a very long time. And oh my! There are fics and FICS, and I'll talk about this capital thing another day but let's just say that I might have already found my cup of tea in this fandom.

Dif-tor heh smusma
