Great, just great... Let's talk about it:

Migraine
is a neurological disease that can cause a wide range of symptoms during an attack. The most commonly thought of symptom is headache. [...]
Usually migraine causes episodes of severe or moderate headache (which is often one-sided and pulsating -and that's I suppose it's the etymological origin of the word: from the Greek hemicrania, "half  head") lasting from several hours to three days, accompanied by gastrointestinal upsets, such as nausea and vomiting, and a heightened sensitivity to bright lights (photophobia) and noise (phonophobia).

Defining severity of pain. The
International Headache Society defines intensity of pain on a verbal 4 point scale:
  • 0 no pain
  • 1 mild pain 'does not interfere with usual activities'
  • 2 moderate pain 'inhibits, but does not wholly prevent usual activities'
  • 3 severe pain 'prevents all activities'

(from Wikipedia: migraine)

Well, let's just said that I spent all Sunday with a mild and moderate pain, I think it started at morning as mild and was increasing all afternoon till a moderate pain. And obviously that same night I woke up with a grade 3, severe pain, that lasted around 2 hours after I take some pills and put a cold&wet cloth on my forehead. The next day I arrived late to my job (well not really late because I can arrive whenever I want, I just need to do four hours but I usually arrive betwen 9 and 9:30) and I suffered all morning a moderate pain that remained till evening, what a fucked day, really. All Tuesday morning I had a mild pain and at least today I'm alright.

And maybe you are wondering how I know I have migraine, well for once my doctor told me three years ago when I had my first migraine (until that time I inly suffered tensional headaches). Just look at the symptoms of the migraine without aurea:

Typical characteristics of the headache are unilateral location, pulsating quality, moderate or severe intensity, aggravation by routine physical activity and association with nausea and/or photophobia and phonophobia. In order to diagnose migraine without aura, there must have been at least five attacks not attributable to another cause that fulfill the following criteria:

1. Headache attacks lasting 4-72 hours when untreated  Mmmm I've never wanted to prove how long will it last without any treatment, so I really don't know, but you know... 2 hours treated...
2. At least two of the following characteristics:
  • Unilateral location check
  • Pulsating quality  check
  • Moderate or severe pain intensity  check
  • Aggravation by or causing avoidance of routine physical activity mmmm... not sure

3. During the headache there must be at least one of the following associated symptom clusters:

  • Nausea and/or vomiting check nausea sometimes
  • Photophobia and phonophobia check both of them

Funny, isn't it? I hate genetics... I'm so fucked¬¬
